There have been several furniture makers in the Lea Valley the largest by far being Lebus of Tottenham. The History of the company dates to the 1800s when the Lebus company was founded by Louis Lebus. During the Second World War the firm produced the Airspeed Horsa glider, and the Mosquito multi role aircraft. The firm also undertook top-secret operations, such as building replica Sherman tanks out of wood. After many years of making furniture, the company closed in 1969 due to financial difficulty, 

F.Wrighton & Sons

The Company started in Hackney in 1923 and moved to Walthamstow in 1933. They made high-class furinture as seen in the picture below. During the second world war they manufactured over 1000 Mosquito aircraft. The company closed in the late 1960s.
